Happy New Year. One thing I've always loved is breaking out the calendar and looking at it unblemished with no history wondering how the time will pass and the days will fill with memories good and bad.
This is going to be a new year for me. No matter what happens, this year is going to be different.
My weightloss is currently "stalled" although I find that an incredibly silly term to use. I've finished week 2 of being sleeved and have hit what appears to be a normal stop In this rapid weight loss. It seems that a 3rd week stall is normal. And you know what? I'm really ok with it. Seeing the weight fall off the way it was is really kinda scary. One night you go to bed and the next day you wake up 3 pounds lighter. :-/ Where did it go? And why weren't those weight stealing fairies visiting me before?
I'm assuming this rapid weight loss happens because you are basically shocking the heck out of your body. First you're chopping off your stomach, then (in my case due to my massive hiatal hernia) I've rearranged all of my insides and my stomach is now smaller where it should be and no longer the size of a football pressing against my spine, bladder and residing in my chest cavity.
No matter what, even if I weren't to lose another pound (I'd be pissed) but as my husband says, we're thankful that the surgery corrected the misalignment of my internal organs and saved me from possibly having my stomach rupture in my chest.
I've been sleeping much better (per my hubby my breathing at night is no longer "labored". I did not have sleep apnea, however the pressure of the misalignment definitely took a toll on my lungs, bladder and spine. I'm hoping once I get more food and protein in me, I'll have more energy.
To catch up, I've had some really bad issues with vomiting. My fluids would not stay down. Your minimum intake of water should be 32 ounces...max 64 if not more. And to accomplish that you are to drink 1 ounce every 15 minutes. Except I would start vomiting and having severe stomach cramping and vomiting sudsy, foamy mucous and water.
After calling my doctor we have found out that I am experiencing something most gastric bypass patients experience. My stomach is rejecting water. I'm to drink anything other than water.
I've also been given some medication (the name escapes me right now) that helps people who have ulcers heal their stomachs. So I'm being creative with making smoothies out of frozen peaches, fresh blueberries, spinach and a little 2% milk.
While listening to the Elton John NYE concert at the Barclay Center being aired on Sirius XM Radio - The Blend, (and having a very romantic dance in the kitchen with my husband while Elton serenaded us with "Daniel", I decided I was going to try to do an egg for protein and have breakfast with my hubby. So I made poached eggs for the very first time.
I kept mine a little softer and runnier as you can see but they were fabulous for my first time ever. Had some soft cubed potatoes with Four Corners Pepper from Savory Seasonings and our first breakfast of the new year was a hit.
I hope for the best as this year progresses.
